Hi I just started having a problem where I get the mac spinning wheel every time I open the browse tab and have to force quit the application. I can still do my cards normally but can’t get anything to load in the browse tab to add new cards.
I have already tried all of the tips that I can find including the reset window sizes/positions, disabling my add ons, checking the database, switching the video driver, and even exporting my decks and uploading them to a new profile. None of them have worked. Does anyone have any advice??
You don’t need the browse tab to add cards, only the “add” tab. Maybe that helps in the meantime.
If the troubleshooting list didn’t help, then we need to find out what changed. You say you “just started having a problem”. That means it worked before but doesn’t anymore now.
What changed in the meantime? Did you update your OS or Anki? Change any config? Or something else?
My mac auto-updated to sequoia 15 last night
I would suggest:
- Create a new Profile, and switch to the new profile.
- Using the new profile, create a new Deck, and then add a single Note to the new deck.
- Check to see if the Browse window problem occurs with this new deck with just one note.
If the problem occurs with the new deck with just one card, then that would be a situation where we’ll have to investigate further and try other things.
However, if the problem doesn’t occur with that new deck, then the problem might be with one of your existing decks.
In that case, if you have multiple decks, you might want to try uploading them to a new profile, one at a time, checking the Browse window after adding each new deck. If the problem is with one specific deck, then this procedure might tell you which deck is the problem.
For general troubleshooting, you might also want to try rebooting your Mac. I don’t think it will help, but it might be something worth trying.
