Some Coptic characters are rendered as overlapping

I’ve recently been making a deck for Coptic vocabulary. I’d like to use Google’s Noto Sans Coptic font, but when I do, something odd happens. It seems certain Coptic characters are rendered so that they overlap, which is quite unseemly (and makes it difficult to read). For instance, if I have a card with the front “ⲡ.ϩⲙ̅ϩⲁⲗ, ⲑⲙ̅ϩⲁⲗ (ⲧ.ϩⲙ̅ϩⲁⲗ)” the letters “ϩⲙ̅ϩⲁ” in the first word are overlapping to some degree.

This only seems to happen when using Noto Sans Coptic and it happens both in the Add/Browse/Edit dialogue and when reviewing the card in question (given that the styling uses that font). Here’s how it looks.

PS: I’m using Anki ⁨2.1.38 (355e4cd5)⁩ on Ubuntu 20.10.

Font rendering is handled by the toolkit Anki is built on, and not something we have direct control over I’m afraid.

Could you try another coptic font in case the glyphs render better with that version?

Yeah, I’m using another Coptic font at the moment and the problem is solely with Noto Sans Coptic. Just wanted to hear if it was fixable, but it’s no biggie if it’s not.
