Selecting a deck

In the list of decks, a deck is selected. If I select another deck, it’s added to the selection. Is there a way to deselect the deck? What I’ve been doing is clicking on (studying) another deck then returning to the list of decks. I suppose that works, but is there a way to deselect a deck without doing that?

Are you asking about the main Decks screen – Studying - Anki Manual – or about the sidebar in the Browse window – Browsing - Anki Manual ?

Also, what exactly are you trying to do by deselecting the deck?

Thanks both. I’m talking about the main Decks screen. Adding cards would be one reason I think I’m supposed to select a deck. Exporting would be another.

I didn’t try adding a card when more than one deck is selected. If I went away for a day came back and saw 2 decks selected and didn’t remember what i was doing, that would be confusing.

In the main Decks screen, AFAIK it’s not possible to select two decks at the same time. Only one deck can be active at any given moment.

It’s what happens for me if I click a deck other than the selected deck

When you select a particular deck, unless it is in a collapsed deck, the deck will be in a slightly darker shade than the background. Could you show a screenshot of what you mean when you say you have selected two decks?

Heh. It’s not happening now. I was clicking to the right of the link to select the deck without studying it. So, I guess it was some weird state the program was in and this topic can be closed.

Just so you know, you’ll have to click on the name of the deck for it to be registered as your current deck.

Ok. When I do that, It begins studying the deck. Maybe that doesn’t matter if the next thing I do is browse the deck or add cards.
