I have a deck hierarchy, say for instance,
Software
Open source
Commercial
Is there a way to study only the cards in the top level deck, in this case ‘Software’?
I tried creating a custom deck with the search string “deck:Software -deck:Software::_*” which returned no cards.
Any suggestions?

Do you have any cards that are in the “Software” deck, but not in the subdecks?
Yes. The cards in the ‘Software’ deck are the the only cards that I want to study. I want to exclude any cards in the ‘Open Source’ and ‘Commercial’ decks.
My question was specifically asking – do those cards exist?
That search – deck:Software -deck:Software::_*
– should work, just like – deck:Software -deck:Software::*
– would work. So if it’s returning nothing, it might be because there aren’t any cards there.
Have you tried the Search in the Browse window? Or tried explicitly excluding the 2 subdecks without a wildcard?
deck:Software -"deck:Software::Open source" -deck::Software::Commercial
