Review Backlog Setting Help

Hello,

I’m relatively new to Anki, and I don’t fully understand all the settings, and I’m having a problem with my review scheduling.

I attended a language study program where I learned around 40+ words a day, so my Anki deck is huge. At first, it was fine, but after the program, I took a 2-week break. Now, I have around 400 cards due and 100 cards to learn. The problem is that when I mark a card, say, to come back in one day, I won’t actually get that card back in one day because I have to go through all the green and red cards first. So, it’ll probably be about a month before I get that card back, by which point I’ll have definitely forgotten it. It seems that there’s no way to break out of this cycle without either going through all 500 cards in one sitting or resetting my deck, neither of which I want to do.

Have other people experienced this problem, and is there a way to fix this with settings? Or am I misinterpreting my situation?

Thanks!

-Matt

Try using a catch-up deck – to keep your backlog out of the way while you bring it back to life gradually. Adressing Backlog - #2 by Danika_Dakika
