Repeating flashcards from front side only

How can I learn words in Anki flashcards program setting repetition of words using front side only?

I have created some flashcards for learnign Spanish in Anki program. The front side of the flashcards I have made is always in English, and the back side is the translation in Spanish. But when I try to practice the app by default presents flashcards in random order both with back side shown to me and front side shown to me. How can I customize the program in a way that allows to learn words/flashcards only from the front side? In other words, I want the app to show me only front sides of flashcards so that I can check if I remember the translation in Spanish (bacl side). How can I do that?

You’re most likely using the reversed note type. Read the manual for more details.

So I should just change all my flashcards to Basic?

You don’t need to change them to Basic. That will delete the reversed cards entirely. If you think you might want the reversed cards in the future, you can suspend them for now. For that deck, search card:2 [assuming that’s the card you don’t want to study] – select all – Toggle suspend.

I want the app to show me the fornt side (which contains words in English), so that I can check if I remember what is on the back side (which contains the translation in Spanish). I want the app to show me the front side first, then when I remember the translation and click on the screen I want Anki to show me the back side.

How do I achieve that?

So you didn’t read the manual :upside_down_face:

The Basic note type creates a single card for each note. Whereas the Basic (and reversed card) note type creates 2 cards, one for Front → Back and one for Back → Front.

What you want is to only have one direction, Front → Back, so what you need to do is to change the note type of your notes to something like Basic (or as Danika_Dakika said, suspend the cards you don’t want).

You should be able to Google the rest.

Thank you so much.

I did not read the entirety of the manual as it is intimidatingly voluminuos. Sorry for that.

No problem. I linked to the relevant section in the manual so you didn’t need to read the whole thing.
