Rename cloze card-types?

Hello,

Is there a technical reason (such as other code relying on the template name) why models based on the cloze model can’t have their card types renamed?

I make use of TTS on some of my templates and I’d like to be able to make a filtered deck of all of these cards using a search such as card:*text-to-speech*. Currently I can’t target the cloze based TTS cards because their cards types can’t be renamed. I guess I can work arround it by renaming the model though.

You will definitely be able to find these based on their note type – Searching - Anki Manual . There would be no difference in searching for them card-by-card, because every card on that note type uses the same template (with your TTS language).
