I want to delete the reverse card feature from one of my decks. When I go to the card type window and select Options > Remove card type, it asks if I want to remove the reverse card for all of my decks. Well, no, just from one deck.
How do I do that?
That “feature” isn’t applied to a deck. Each note you have entered has a note type that determines how many cards it can make and what they look like. Getting Started - Anki Manual
It sounds like you want to change your note type to only make forward cards instead of forward and reverse cards. If you’re using the default “Basic (and reversed card)” note type, and you haven’t modified it at all, you can do this pretty easily by switching them to the “Basic” note type instead –
- Make sure all of your devices are completely in sync (because you’ll be forced to do a one-way sync after this).
- Go to that deck – Select All > Notes > Change Note Type.
- On the right side, choose “Basic” as the new note type.
- Make sure everything maps the way you want, and nothing is going to get lost – then Save.

Thank you! Your help saved me at least an hour. (I find the help pages really hard to work through.)
I wanted to keep the HTML formatting I currently have, so here’s what I actually did:
- Sync
- Click on a deck > browse. Right click on a word > Manage note types.
- Add > [Select the note type I want to base my new type on] > [Name it NewNoteType].
- Select NewNoteType > Click Cards
- Under card type, select the second card, then Options > Remove Card Type.
- Save and close Note Types
That’s great. Then you’ll just do the steps above but change to your “NewNoteType” instead of “Basic.”
