Reversing cards w/o keeping the original version

Hello,

I saw another thread on this, but it was locked so I couldn’t ask questions. i want to import a deck, but it needs to be reversed. I’m importing from quizlet and the person who did the original deck did it backward. I know I can check the reversed box, but it also creates the “normal” ones. I tried doing it that way & then deleting the normal ones b/c they are backward, but then it deletes all the cards. What can I do to circumvent this problem?

Thank you.

It looks like this is about due dates. I want to retain the reverse cards and delete the others. How can I do that?

If you want to delete the card type, do it in Manage Note Types.

Your answer makes it seem that you haven’t watched the video.

I did watch it. It showed all those states and capitals. It showed renumbering them different ways and stuff like that. Maybe b/c it was a video and not written instructions. I have a harder time learning that way. I’ll try what you put above though. Thank you.

How do I just pick that deck? I don’t want to remove all the decks that have that type card; only the ones in the deck I’m referring to.

Any change you make to the note type will affect all notes that use that type. You can’t restrict it to deck. But first, since it’s an imported deck, you should see if anything else is using that note type.

In the Browse window, scroll down the left-sidebar until you see “Note Types.” Do you know what the note type is called? Just like those ones in your screenshot, it might end with “++++” or “-dk43lh” and those matter to make sure you’re choosing the right one.

Yeah, other types do use that note type. So how can I delete the forwards w/o deleting the reversals or deleting the forwards of other decks?

  • Clone the note type
  • Give it a meaningful name
  • In the Browse window, select all of these notes and Notes > Change Note Type to switch them to the your new note type.
