Remove all tags at once

Hi everyone,
I am using Anki Version 2.1.49 and I am looking for a way to delete ALL tags from several cards in one step.
For example: I have three cards with the following tags
card 1: alpha beta
card 2: gamma delta
card 3: epsilon eta

Is there any command that removes all those six tags so that each of the cards has no more tags? I have read that you can select all the cards, click remove tags and then enter * when I’m asked what tags I want to delete. But this doesn’t work.
Does anyone have any ideas?
