Pre-fill browser search bar with chosen deck query

When I’m on a deck d’s view and I press b I get the note browser filtered to include only notes in deck d. But the search bar is empty—it doesn’t show that the current search is restricted to deck:d. So when I want to further filter the selected notes to those with some additional criteria, say tag:foo, I type tag:foo and press Enter but that expands the search to foo-tagged notes in any deck, rather than foo-tagged notes in deck d.

My request is that when I press b from deck d’s view, and the note browser showing d’s notes appears, that the search bar be pre-filled with deck:d or deck:current, so that I can easily sub-filter that deck.

Just a note because I got confused here: There are basically two ways to replicate this:

  1. In the deck chooser, the cards of whichever deck is selected will be shown when you press b.
  2. If you already clicked on the deck and see the deck description, then you will be shown the cards of that deck when you press b.

set the default value for the search to deck:current.
In this case, the search will be easy to refine, for example, deck:current tag:foo

b — It just switches to viewing and most likely, logically, this will not be changed.

The problem is that if you change something in this row, or simply delete everything, where can you see what’s displayed in the table? Nowhere.
I’m currently experimenting with changing the add-on, as I don’t like this situation either. I’m used to having to press F5 to refresh the table, and it’s also annoying that when sorting a field, the focus resets to the beginning. I haven’t solved this yet, but releasing something like this… well, that’s only true if the developers themselves don’t work in this field and are perhaps accustomed to Linux… maybe that’s how it is there and it’s normal for them, I don’t know.

This is a perfect solution for you. If you’re always getting the selected deck, I’m almost certain that is the search being run in the background, so it might be added as a visible search at some point. Until then, setting it yourself in Preferences will do the trick – Preferences - Anki Manual .
