ORDER OF THE CARDS- please help!

Hello,

I had a deck of 256 cards, and 40 of them were due for review. Since they appeared in random order, I decided to reset the deck so all cards would be marked as new. My goal was to review them from oldest to newest—mirroring the structured order I have in my Notion notes—so I could go step by step.

However, after resetting the cards, Anki still presents them in a random order instead of chronological. I understand that random order is expected for reviews, but I would like to go through the deck once in order before regular spaced repetition starts. Is there a way to make Anki show new cards from oldest to newest after a reset?

Anki version 24.11 (87ccd24e)⁩

I would appreciate any advice on how to achieve this.

Thank you!

Best regards,
Aleksandra

When you did the Reset, did you tick “Restore original position where possible”? That determines what position the cards get in the New-card queue.

The order that cards are shown when you study is controlled by your Display Options – specifically the ones used by the parent deck you click to study. That was controlling the order of your Review cards before you reset, and now its controlling which cards are introduced as New each day and the order they are shown to you.

So if you reset the cards to their original positions, and you have your Display Options set correctly, you can probably see those cards in the order you want.
