Old cards behaving like mature cards even after using ‘Forget’”

Hi! I used Anki quite a lot around 2020, but then I stopped using it for a long time.

Now that I’ve come back, I’m having a problem: the review intervals are showing up as very long — sometimes in months or even years. I believe this is happening because Anki is still considering my old review history from 2020. But since I’ve been away for so long, that history doesn’t reflect my current memory. Honestly, I’ve forgotten almost everything.

What I want is for those old cards to behave like new cards, so the review intervals can increase gradually as I relearn the content.

I asked an AI for help, and it suggested using the “Forget” option on all the cards — which I did. But unfortunately, that didn’t solve the issue. Anki is still giving me long intervals even on early reviews.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

That sounds like the right command – but it was renamed to “Reset” in current versions. It’s in the Browse window – Cards > Reset . Is that what you used?

I used the “Esquecer” option as shown in the screenshot (Portuguese language). It’s the same as pressing “Ctrl + Alt + N”. Unfortunately, I did this procedure, but when answering, the intervals are still showing as extended.

Yes, that’s the right one. Can you post the Card Info for a card that has these long intervals?
