While reviewing today on an iPad, I’ve observed an odd bug with menus. Everything works fine until I undo a review, but after that, when I attempt to open the gear menu, it appears squashed into a tiny square in the upper left (see screenshot) rather than its normal place in the lower right, and most notifications, e.g. the notifications for synching, appear either not at all or, perhaps, invisibly small in the upper left. Just exiting and restarting Anki didn’t fix the problem; turning off the iPad and restarting it did, until the next time I undid a review. (Later I found that just dismissing the bad menu and then accessing the menu again before doing anything else also restored it to its normal position)
There is also other odd behavior tied to undoing reviews. Sometimes, after undoing a review, rather than showing the card whose review has been undone, the current card will continue to be shown, but any actions (e.g. show answer) will produce a warning that ‘There is no current card,’ and only returning to the deck screen and then resuming review will allow normal interactions to resume.
I’m not sure if these 2 things are related, but thanks for reporting both of them! We’re going to need to take a look, so I’m glad you found a way around it for now.
The dev might have more questions, but let’s start with – What model iPad and what version of iPadOS are you using?
Yeah… intuitively, I can’t see the causal connection between undoing a review and the other symptoms, but I can’t deny the correlation :-).
Re: system specs:
Hmm, I haven’t been able to reproduce either of these yet. Is there any pattern/set of steps that seems to cause it to happen?
Both are a bit inconsistent, but I’m still seeing both, so let me add the circumstantial detail that I’ve been using screen mirroring to a television, and it’s possible that the bugs have only occurred when I’ve been doing that, and I could certainly imagine that affecting the rendering system somehow.
Let me also add, though this bug is much older and unrelated, but while I have a thread open, that if I show the answer for a card and then fat-finger two rating numbers in quick succession, I often get an error message that indicates that the application attempted to enact both ratings, and one failed because the other one had already taken effect.
