Number of new vocabs can be learnt per day

Hi everyone, I’m new to anki.

I’m using a deck the have 2 types of cards for each note. I have my new cards limit per day at 20 and all burying options toggled on. The problem I recently encountered is that I want to learn 20 new “words” (not cards alone) per day. But I keep getting the same words on multiple learning sessions, which make I can just learn like 5 to 7 words per day…

For example: I learnt the vocab for “language” (reading card) on day 1, then in day 2 the system will show me the card for same “language” word (this time the english type) since the system considered it as a new card (you can see in the image I uploaded). I really dont know how to fix this, if I adjust the new cards limit to 40 will I fix this?

There isn’t a fix for it – that’s just how it works. If you set your New card limit to 40 instead of 20, you might get more than 20 new “words.” On any given day it will depend on what cards are due and what cards are available.

The way around this is to control the limits for the new “words” and the rest of the New sibling cards separately. I just helped someone with a similar situation on Reddit the other day. The thread meandered a bit, but take a look, because that sort of setup might be what you’re looking for.
