Next card review is fixed... but not always?

While reviewing, when i get to see a review card without reviewing it and i go back to the main screen sometimes the next card is fixed but some times it isnt

For example some times i have a card in learning (it will show up again in 10’) and after waiting 10’ sometimes it shows me the learning cards “due”, and some other times it will show me the “fixed reviewed card” i have already saw. Even if i wait 1h hour it wont show me the learning cards

Im trying to understand when does it happen because it doesnt happen every time

Im using Version ⁨25.09.2 (3890e12c)⁩ Python 3.13.5 Qt 6.9.1 Chromium 122

Thanks

I’ve noticed that if I exit a review session and then press the Sync button, Anki will “forget” the current review card and may show me a learning/relearning card instead when I next start reviewing. So that may be one factor in what you are seeing.

Does it happens to you every time tho?

I noticed that too, that it forgets after going back and sync, but it only works sometimes

Anki rebuilds the study queue after most operations (such as changing the current deck or syncing).

Yup this works to unlock the fixed card!

Thanks

Is there any way to unlock the card without having to go into another deck? When i click anoher deck to select it, it goes inside to study and i have to go back again

I always prefer to be shown a card in learning when is due instead of the next review anyway

why is the next card preselected tho? is it to save time? is it to make it deterministic?

Im confused if i should look something into that post that is relevant but i cant find anything
