New Anki cards disappear

hi, I cannot see the new Anki cards I am creating. They don’t even show up in the deck I selected. I want the front of the basic card to be an audio file, then the rest of the contents to be in the back of the card. I can record fine, select the deck fine, enter the back of the card no problem. But after I click the add button there’s still zero cards in my folder. Very frustrating. It’s a basic card for goodness sake. There’s no card to review, like all my work went into oblivion. Would appreciate any help I can get. Thx!!

Cards don’t get stored in folders. They are inside an sqlite3 database file.

If you go to browse, can you see the cards there? The add dialog also has a history button you can click on, which will auto select the card in the browser.

I don’t see any cards in the deck I selected

Yes I see the card in the history section. But it does me no good because I can’t study from it

Yes, it does. If you click on it, you’ll be able to see where the card is stored (e.g. in which deck).

Anki cards don’t just disappear. If you cannot find it, then you probably added it to the wrong deck / subdeck.

Once you know where the card is, you can move it (or study by selecting the appropriate deck).

You can just create a filtered deck using added:1 for the cards you introduced at the same day and then review them.

It sounds like you added it to the wrong deck. When you click it in History, Anki will show you the note/card in the Browse window. Make sure the “Deck” column is showing to see where it was created. You can use Cards > Change Deck to move it to the correct deck.

If that wasn’t the deck you selected in the Add window, check to make sure there isn’t a Deck Override in your note type that assigns that card to a different deck. Card Templates - Anki Manual

You can also try running Tools > Check Database, in case something has become disconnected.

Good point. Let me go that
