I just downloaded AnKing from AnkiHub on my PC and unlocked a few kaplan chapters worth of cards, the rest of my cards are unlocked. I purchased AnkiMobile, sync’d to the same account. After the sync, the correct deck is there, but all the cards are unlocked. I was hoping that I could interchange doing cards on my PC and cards on my iPhone, but they don’t seem to be synching properly. Does anyone have any guidance?
Did you wait to actually sync the whole thing? Be patient. And what does “all the decks are unlocked” even means?
When syncing from desktop to AnkiMobile, it will take a while - Cloud Sync - AnkiMobile Manual
Once your devices are fully in sync – which can take a few tries if you have a lot of media – you’ll need to keep them that way by syncing when you open the app AND when you close/leave the app, on every device, every time.
If you’re doing all that and you’re not finding them in sync, maybe you can let us know what you are seeing that doesn’t match up.
Can you clarify what you mean in regards to “did you actually wait to sync the whole thing.”
For more context. I downloaded AnKing deck, suspended all cards. Unsuspended cards under the kaplan tag that corresponded to two chapters. I did all those cards. Then I downloaded the Anki Mobile app, logged into that same account, sync’d. Sync was successful, the deck is showing on Anki Mobile. But when I went to browse “tab” on Anki Mobile, instead of two chapters worth of cards being unsuspended, all the cards were unsuspended.
Also this morning when I woke up, PC Anki shows my new cards waiting for me. Anki Mobile doesn’t reflect the same thing.

I have clicked sync on both the mobile and pc versions. It is a bit frustrating as I spent the money so I could do cards when I am away from my computer.
Should I sync to ankihub from my PC?
The sequence you just gave me was missing a step. After you did everything you did on your PC – you needed to sync all of those changes you made to your collection (downloading, suspending, unsuspending, studying) to AnkiWeb. Otherwise, none of that is there for AnkiMobile to receive when it syncs. You need to sync when you open the app AND when you close/leave the app, on every device, every time.
You said you’ve now synced both the mobile and PC versions, but if that didn’t fix things, it might have updated the things you did on your PC with the later-timestamped things you didn’t do on your phone. I’m sure that didn’t make any sense, but when your collections are out of sync on different devices, Anki will reconcile them when it can, and sometimes that leaves a card in an unexpected state.
How to fix it?
- If everything looks great on your PC, and that’s the version you want to have everywhere, you should force a one-way sync from there – upload to AnkiWeb – and then you can receive that sync on your phone – download from AnkiWeb.
- If your PC does not look great, your best bet is to restore an automatic backup from just before the sync from AnkiMobile overwrote things. Then you can force a one-way sync to get everything sorted.
Then just keep in mind – Sync when you pick up a device, sync before you put down a device – and you’ll be golden.
A couple of things:
Are you on the most up-to-date version of Anki on all devices? Version mismatches can cause issues
As others have noted, mobile devices take longer to sync and this is doubly true with very large collections like the Anking deck. It can sometimes take multiple syncs.
And, as Danika_Dakika has indicated, you may need to force a one-way sync to bring everything into agreement.
