Merge basic and cloze notes

I don’t see a reason why basic and cloze notes have to be separate. Instead of this, we could have a single hybrid note.

How is it going to work: In the card management window, we would have a checkbox indicating that a card is cloze. At most, only a single card in a note could be cloze, with the cloze deletion logic applied as we know it. Other cards shall behave as basic cards with cloze parentheses/hints inside fields removed.

Would it make sense to implement something like this?

I don’t understand why this function hasn’t been implemented yet. Anyway, these add-on fills that gap.

The main benefit of the mentioned approach is that information isn’t split across multiple notes. Unfortunately, addons doesn’t solve this problem (even without addons, you can always add cloze-normal note pair manually).

I very much want this.

Sometimes I want to ask a “basic” question about part of the cloze-text, and it would be a sibling, which I need to auto-bury to avoid spoilers, but currently I cant make it a sibling.

Example:

ClozeText: GroupD members:

  1. {{c1::Chamundeshwari}}
  2. {{c2::Michael}}
  3. {{c3::John}

BasicFront: Who is mother of Chamundeshwari?

BasicBack: Bhagyalakshmi

You can always put a Basic Q/A in a cloze type, just write the question and cloze-mark the answer.

Who is mother of Chamundeshwari?
{{c4::Bhagyalakshmi}}

Im not sure what do you mean. Does the full clozeText look like this?

GroupD members:

{{c1::Chamundeshwari}}

{{c2::Michael}}

{{c3::John}

Who is mother of Chamundeshwari?

{{c4::Bhagyalakshmi}}

That can work, but a better way is to make multiple fields for “basic questions” and use the trick described in Un(der) documented feature: behavior of cloze replacement fields that do not contain instance cloze reference · Issue #333 · ankitects/anki-manual · GitHub.

You can do it like that if you want. It probably makes more sense to use multiple cloze-marked fields.

If I do it like this I spoil myself the hardest name on the list.

If I cloze the hindu name with c1, I still help myself by saying that I know mother of c1.

if I cloze the hindu name with c5 I still know that c5 or c4 is related to GroupD, also I will have 5 cards where I could have 4.

Whatever I do I reveal more information to myself than I would like.

Wait. One probably can do it with multiple clozeText fields?

This is actually big…
