BTW I am new to Anki so please forgive. I downloaded two decks (one subscription via ankihub and one straight download) onto my PC anki app (most up to date one) that I have not yet began to study. The collection sync with ankiweb goes smoothly everytime and I’m able to sync with ankihub with no problems. However, everytime I attempt to media sync, it goes to around 400 cards “Added,” then I receive this message, “A network error occurred. Error details: error sending request for URL ().” This doesn’t seem to be a problem on my iPhone since I get the media sync complete message everytime on their even when I’m connected to the same wifi as the computer (Although it seemed to only show a fraction of the cards “Added” before giving the complete notification). I already made sure to allow anki through my PC’s firewall and network prevention and I don’t have any add ons besides ankihub, which when disabled, still doesn’t fix the issue. What could be the problem? Could it be the media size (~2200MB)? I even tried connecting my PC to a phone hotspot, which still didn’t solve the issue.
Also, I just checked my iphone anki app and is says that over half of my media files are missing when clicking “Check Media.” Does this mean it didn’t completely sync media after all even though its says it did?
If everything started on your PC, then each media file needs to sync to AnkiWeb first, and only after that can it sync to your phone.
So the media sync might be completing on your phone based on what is currently present on AnkiWeb – but your phone can’t get anything that AnkiWeb doesn’t have yet. And if your collection on your PC has over 2 GB of media (which is a lot by any measure, but especially for just 2 decks), it’s not surprising that it hasn’t all synced to AnkiWeb yet.
-
Start on your PC – have you run Tools > Check Media there? Did you import any other decks just to check them out? If so, even if you deleted them later, their media is still in your collection. Check Media will tell you if there is unused media that can be deleted.
-
Then you can continue syncing your PC with AnkiWeb until it completes successfully with no errors. See the FAQ for ideas about what to do to get past the issue. And then continue syncing until it is done.
-
[Since you’re midway through the media sync, there’s a chance that this process will restore some of those deleted files, so once your PC and AnkiWeb are completely in sync, repeat step 1 to delete unneeded files, and then get them in sync again.]
-
Then you can sync your phone as many times as it takes for media sync to complete there. Use Check Media on both devices and compare the results to make sure they are getting closer together.
