Maybe a bug when input Chinese word?

Hi,

I.m using the latest Anki desktop version app on MacOS, 2.1.50, what i found is when i type in the Browser search box, cursor seems lose focus and i can’t input any word like i used to be able to.

Thanks for helping:)

Unfortunately this is an issue with the graphics toolkit that Anki uses. It’s likely to be fixed in a future version, but in the meantime the Qt5 version should work for you.

Just a little more info that might be relevant: I have encountered the same problem when trying to input Ethiopic text using the SIL Ethiopic keyboard on MacOS 12.3. I can recreate it every time with that keyboard, but do not ever have difficulty with the other keyboards I use (Arabic, Greek, Thai, Latin). This applies to both the browser and card creation. If I have the entry difficulty, switch to another application, switch back, and reselect the problematic keyboard, I am able to enter text with no problem. It’s a pain, but at least there’s a work-around. Looking forward to the fix in a future version!

Still Exists At version 2.1.51, you could use cmd+shift to switch to another app and then back to anki, this could be a temporary solution until the update solve this problem

macOS 12.3

Version ⁨2.1.50 (26d40c3a)⁩
Python 3.9.7 Qt 6.2.3 PyQt 6.2.3

Open “Browse”, in the “Search” text field, if I type in English, it is OK. But when I try to type in Chinese or Japanese, it doesn’t work.

The only method to resolve it is trying to type Chinese or Japanese in other apps (such as terminal) and then back to type in Anki.
