I tried reinstalling multiple times but I’m unable to open anki pass this console

I haven’t seen this one before, but here are some things you can try –

  1. Delete this uv folder from AppData\Roaming and try the install again, starting from the file that you downloaded from ankiweb or github.

  2. Some Googling suggests that this is an issue with the “Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable” on your system (which you might have for a variety of reasons). If you search your Windows installed apps, do you see that listed? Is it a recent install/update/version (dated 2026, or version 14.x)? Do you have both the x64 and x86 editions?

For searchability:
python.exe - Bad Image
... uv\python\cpython-3.13.5-windows-x86_64-none\VCRUNTIME140.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support. Error status 0xc000007b.

If you found a solution to this novel issue, I hope you’ll consider posting it here so that others can benefit.

I was able to solve the issue by simply updating my new laptop in windows settings and restarting

Thank you!
