I somehow managed to cobble together some rubypython scripts to create some basic (at this point) apkg decks to post on a language learning webiste.
Here are a couple of examples:
Sorry the pages are in french but there are download links in the TIP/ASTUCE admonition for the downloadable fie.
This works well on the desktop, but the vast majority of users for this are on mobile. When I open these pages in chrome on android 14 motrorola device, I was unable to open in Ankidroid. Then i realized it is saving the files as filename.apkg.zip. Why is that? if I unzip the file i find collection and media folders, NOT an apkg file. The only way I can proceed is to rename the file.
But this is sooooo weird and un user friendly. In West Africa here we need the users to download the file, cliick on it and have it happily import to Anki. Any ideas why this is so hard? I know its not an ankidroid issue. But maybe some suggestions here as to how to make this more palatable. Thanks.
I have done that, and would love to but 2 issues. 1) This is not an in demand language so the decks will just get auto removed. and 2) In any case here these are specific small files for individual lessons, so even if they did not get deleted it would probably not be too practical.
But I do find it very weird that Android (at least the version I have is insisting on adding that zip extension. Is that not kind of pretentious?
