I recieved the deck as a zip file. I unzipped it and renamed the supposed deck named ‘‘collection.anki2’’ to an apkg file. But when I try to import it it says ‘‘invalid zip archive: could not find central directory end’’
It seems whoever sent you the file has sent their collection file instead of a deck. You can get the decks out of that, but easiest may be for them to export the deck as intended and send you the expected .apkg file instead.

Thanks for the quick response! Sadly I can’t ask the person. Is there a step by step tutorial on how to get the deck out of it?
The downloaded zip file might be an apkg file that was renamed from .apkg to .zip. Try to import it by changing its extension from .zip to .apkg or use File > Import and select the zip file.
First of all, you’ll want to create a new Anki profile. In the top left of the main window, click File > Switch Profile and create a new profile with a distinct name from there, and then close Anki.
Next, you’ll want to navigate to your Anki2 folder. It’s location will vary depending on your operating system. You’ll find instructions on how to find in this section of the manual. Consider making a backup of the Anki2 folder before proceeding to make any changes.
Inside the Anki2 folder, you will see an additional folder for each of your profiles. Enter the folder corresponding to the profile you just created. Replace the collection.anki2 with the file of the same name from the zip archive you received.
If the zip archive you received also contains a folder called collection.media and a file called collection.media.db2, put those in the same way. If those files are missing any images or sounds will be missing from the cards.
Open Anki again and select your new profile. You may find several decks here. Click the cog wheel on the deck of interest and export, not including scheduling information.
Switch back to your regular profile and import the deck you just exported.
Hope that helps, cheers!
