Hi, any help would be appreciated for a very confused anki novice. Trying to study for a microbiology test and imported my friends cards. However the words not in the cloze don’t show on the screen. When I edit the card and unbold the whole card(including the bolded cloze) it works. But I don’t want to go through hundreds of cards one by one. I’ve restarted my computer, redownloaded with and without presets, and I have the latest version of anki. The creator of the deck doesn’t have this problem at all. Would appreciate if anyone has suggestions to deal with the problem directly or to just unbold all the cards at once which seems like it would probably get around the bug. Ty!!
By this, do you mean that (a) there is empty horizontal space where the words would be, but you can’t see the actual words, or (b) it’s like the words were deleted from the sentence?
If it’s (a), sometimes this can be a text-matches-background issue, which might be much easier to fix, without removing the bold on the notes. Are you using Dark or Light theme? Do you know which your friend uses?
The big factor in how easy this can be is whether the formatting is in the note type (front/back templates, Styling) or the note itself. But even if it’s in the notes, as long as the formatting is consistent, you’ll probably be able to remove it pretty quickly with Find and Replace.
- Click the “Cards …” button [or go to Manage Note Types > Cards] to take a look at the templates and Styling.
- Click the
< >above the field to look at the underlying HTML. There are different ways to tag text as “bold” in HTML, so look for opening tags like<b>or<strong>, orfont-weightproperties.
