I had the Anki App on my old Macbook and created a Backup. The Anki App contains 450mb. When I try to open that App on the new Macbook, no cards are shown. Anyone has an idea on how to get access to the cards by searching within the package content/Library of the Macbook?
Is the program you had on your Macbook “Anki App”? That’s not actually Anki.
What do you mean by it’s not Anki App? It’s like the application I can download and then have it as an installed app on my laptop. The download of Anki itself is 190mb, but mine has 480mb. So I am wondering whether my Anki Cards are somewhere hidden in the package content of that app. You know what I mean?
“Anki App” is the name of a knock-off app that is using Anki’s name to trick customers. If that’s the app you mean, you’re asking in the wrong place. This is the forum for “Anki” (sometimes called “Anki Desktop”, as well as AnkiWeb, AnkiDroid, and AnkiMobile). See the main site for links to all of the apps – https://apps.ankiweb.net/ .
If you’re actually talking about Anki, let us know!
Hey Danika,
this is exactly the website where I downloaded the Anki Desktop version. Sorry for the confusion. So I have the “original” Anki Desktop version. In that context, do you think there is a chance to restore the Cards? As I said, the download of the Anki App is 190mb and my Anki Desktop version of my old Macbook Back up has 440mb.
Thank you for clarifying. I’m am still trying to understand what you mean by the the backup that is 440MB. Is this (1) a backup “colpkg” (or “apkg”) file of your collection that you made from within Anki, or (2) a backup/copy of certain files/directories that you made from data on your Macbook?
If it’s #2, it depends on what this backup is a copy of. Anki stores things in two different locations – an “Anki” folder for the application (I don’t know where that is stored on a Mac), and an “Anki2” folder for all of you collection and profile data (Managing Files - Anki Manual).
