Images not appearing from downloaded deck sent via email

the no image icon appears on certain but not all cards from a shared deck sent via email. We are solely using image occlusion. The cards are copy and pasted or screenshotted from Powerpoint when being occluded. Some of us do not have the issues while others do. We are checking the “support older anki versions” when sharing.

  • Were the cards made with built-in Image Occlusion, or with the Image Occlusion Enhanced add-on?
    • If it was built-in – has everybody upgraded to a recent enough version to use that functionality?
    • If it was the add-on – does everybody have that add-on installed?
  • Are the folks having this issue using the deck on the same device where they imported it, or are they using it on another device after syncing through AnkiWeb? Media files may take time to sync - Frequently Asked Questions

Folks using the deck are using it on the device they downloaded the deck from. Cards were made with Image Occlusion Enhanced and folks receiving the deck have Image Occlusion Enhanced. Image Occlusion Enhanced & Anki is up to date on everyone’s device.

  • Is there anything else that the with-the-problem systems have in common, and is different on the without-the-problem systems?
  • Try starting Anki while holding down Shift (until you see the confirmation message) to deactivate add-ons, and then importing.
  • Run Tools > Check Database to see what and how many media files are missing.
