How to set up Anki to let me practice at least once a day?

Hey all,

I want to practice at least once a day, and possibly multiple times a day. However, according to Anki’s default behavior, after I’ve practiced once for the day, I can’t practice again. It tells me I’m done for the day and it doesn’t have any cards left to show me. I know that Anki has a million billion options and settings and parameters, and I don’t understand any of them.

I’ve taken to creating filtered decks, which let me just rebuild the deck and practice any time I want. But this functionality seems really limited, and I’m definitely not taking advantage of Anki’s “special sauce.”

How do I set up Anki so that I can practice at least once a day, and possibly multiple times a day? I don’t want to come back to Anki wanting to practice, only to have Anki tell me that it doesn’t have any cards left to show me.

I feel like Anki’s default behavior is to wait whole days before it shows you a card again. How can I make it wait less time, since I clearly want to practice more often than Anki thinks I should practice?

Hi!

This chapter of the official manual will be a good time investment: Learning Steps

I’m aware Anki is not the most beginner-friendly software, so it can be frustrating at first. But there are some quintessential aspects (like deck options) that you just have to sit down and learn before starting out
