How to import csv file?

Hello, not sure if it is a bug or user error, but Anki is not offered as an option for me to open a .csv file on ios18 with anki 2024.11

Is there no method to select the file from within the ankimobile app?

thanks for your help

If you’ve downloaded an .apkg or .csv file onto your local device (e.g. it’s stored in the Files app), then tapping on the file should allow you to open that file inside AnkiMobile. You won’t be able to import it directly from AnkiMobile - the actions inside the app are for opening the shared deck list, or for downloading from certain types of URLs which probably don’t apply here).

Try opening the .csv file in Files app > Open with AnkiMobile

Thanks for your message.

Turns out it was user error. I will explain here for other users and perhaps something could be added to the docs?

I had renamed the txt file to .csv but Apple Files still believed it was Kind: text because the true file extension was hidden and remained unchanged.

It is necessary to enable the option in Files Show All Filename Extensions and then the file can be renamed from xyz.csv.txt to xyz.csv which will then allow Ankimobile to show up in the share panel.

It would definitely be better to have the option to select a file to import from inside the Ankimobile interface.

As a further feature request, being able to paste csv values from clipboard would also make this much simpler.
