You can change the type of cards by selecting them in the Browse screen, then using Notes>Change Note Type.

Not directly. If you don’t want to delete the card template, but do want to keep it around, you could use use the deck override option to have it place cards in a separate deck instead.

Instead of ‘adding’ 2 more card types ( and thus complicating the Note Type ), why not make a new Note Type ?

It sounds like you may be asking about AnkiMobile? A change notetype feature is coming in the next update. In the mean time, you should be able to do it using the computer version of Anki.

The computer version does not have the “Browse” option, at least I cannot see it. When I click on the deck and then click on “edit”, I can only edit the contents…

It seems you’re not using the desktop program, but ankiweb. On Anki desktop, you have several options: Browse > Select cards > Right Button > Notes > Change Note type Browse > Select cards > Menu Notes > Change Note type Browse > Select cards > CTRL * Shift * M (Windows version)
