How to add more cards

Thing Is I literally have 7 cards to study today when really id like to be studying around a 100 a day?

You caught up on the backlog (good work!) and Anki is now showing you all of the Review cards that are due. You have less than 800 cards, so you’re certainly not going to have 100 of them due on a single day.

You’ve got a little bit of a spike tomorrow – 18 cards due – but that’s normal after catching up on a backlog. Ordinarily you should expect to see less than a dozen due Review cards per day, across your whole collection.

This is all a good thing though. It means that you know this information well and you don’t need to study it again yet.

Would it be possible to increase though as 18 cards isn’t enough I would want around 50 a day

Is your wish to do more cards because you think that you don’t know your material well enough? Anki is designed to help you spend the least time you need to to retain the material the best you can.

You can use filtered decks for this purpose.

Okay how do I use filtered decks

I’ve linked the manual in my reply.
You did read through what I said, yes?

I haven’t seen no Manuel?

Is this just custom study? But I wanted more to come from each deck I can’t understand why this isn’t allowed

Custom study builds a filtered deck for you, so yes.

It’s not that this isn’t allowed, it’s just that the intervals you have makes it so that only a certain amount of reviews has to be done each day. Anki is a flashcard + scheduler app. There is a schedule to your reviews and a random number of cards wouldn’t be pulled out just for the sake of it.

Having said that, what you need to do is:

  1. Enable FSRS in deck options if you haven’t already.
  2. Increase your desired retention if you want more cards to appear for review each day.

FSRS what is this because I’ve changed the preset and it isn’t working

Read Deck Options - Anki Manual.

Also note: While enabling FSRS and changing your Desired Retention will affect cards that get scheduled in the future, it won’t affect already-scheduled reviews unless you also turn on the option “Reschedule cards on change.”

So what should I put the desired retention on when I want more cards daily

A higher Desired Retention will show you the same cards more frequently. For example, if you enter 95% then you should see each card about twice as often.

But note that Anki and other spaced repetition programs are based on the observation that more frequent reviews are not necessarily better for building memory. I would consider using Anki with the default settings, and you may find that you can memorize the same amount of material with far less work and repetition. You can still use Custom Study / Filtered Decks for occasional extra reviews.

I just need more cards I can understand why this app won’t allow it it’s not good

anki allows almost anything, no one said it doesn’t

So why can’t anyone just give me a simple reason as to why I can’t study more cards each day instead of 18 which is no where near enough

You have been given a simple enough reason. You haven’t read through that article, have you?

Of course you’re allowed to do it. Folks have been pretty patient with you explaining why you don’t need to do it, but it’s your decision to make.

You’ve also been given a few different ways to do it. I don’t know what more we can do to help you. You’re going to have to try those ways and see what is a good fit for you.
