How often do you need to export?

I currently back up my collection on anki via having an ankiweb account and I exported my collection yesterday (export format.colpkg) I was wondering now since I will obviously make progress on my flashcards in the coming months

How often would I need to export? Since I’m guessing once I export its all my progress saved up until that point of exporting right?

So if I needed to import for whatever reason 5 months down the line I would be importing scheduling/progress that was made. 5 months ago.

If you want to take extra precaution besides ankiweb, you can copy the backup files Anki generates, there is no need to manually export the collection each time.

I’d usually do backup weekly to google drive, sometimes more often when I make big changes or review a lot longer than usual.
