Hi everyone! I am confused on how I should be using Anki so I wanted to get some insight. When studying my first deck of cards, there was a pre set daily limit of 20 cards. There is a total of 153 cards so I went to change the daily limit to the total cards in the deck. When I went to do this, I got a note saying the amount of short term work will be higher. So, I just wanted to see how many cards are people studying a day?Was I only supposed to study only 20 cards today for better learning and that is why Anki set the daily limit to 20 cards?Or is this just supposed to be a personal preference and what works best for yourself?Thank you!
Every new card introduced will be a card that needs to be reviewed several times in the coming days and weeks. These reviews will pile up quickly. Stick with the standard settings at first, alter them if necessary when you got a feeling how Anki works for you and if you have capacity to do more.

Thank you’
That 20 is the daily New card limit – for how many cards can be introduced for the first time in a day. Below that is daily maximum for all cards, which defaults to 200 – but you would do well to set that to 9999 (unlimited), because you don’t want to miss any of your cards that are due for review.
As far as what is common – I think anything between 10 and 20 is pretty common for a New card limit, but it’s fine to start low and see how it goes [personally, I’m happy at 6!]. You should expect that you’ll have a daily review workload of 8-10x your daily New cards. With just 153 cards, things obviously won’t get out of control, but it’s still good to keep in mind.
Thank you! I’m just realizing how much it would be if I did all my cards daily because I’m only on the first chapter. I just wanted to make sure I would be able to go through all my cards before my exam but I have plenty of time!
