I just noticed that the time spent to answer a question is measured as follows:
it starts when the card shows up and it stops after it you hit again, hard, good or easy.
I was thinking it would stop as soon as you hit “show answer” because that’s when you decide whether you remember the card or not. then you qualify your answer as wrong, hard, good or easy.
is my observation correct ?
can someone tell me why Anki decided to measure time like this ?
I usually make pauses when I review cards and I make them while leaving a card unanswered but with the answer shown (because I was thinking that the clock would stop there but apparently it doesn’t).
I guess what I’m doing disturbs the algorithm quite a bit.
yes, everyone told everything, exept you can stop onscreen timer on answer. (doesn’t really do anything cuz it has no effect on algo as stated above but oh well, if it makes you comfy? )
That’s most likely because of maximum answer seconds – Deck Options - Anki Manual . The algorithm doesn’t “say” anything about how much time you spent.
