How can I change the position of the cards I have already learnt?

I used the “reposition” function to re-order all my cards, but the cards I have already learnt can be reordered, now the order of all my cards are messed, I know maybe it’s not a big problem, but I feel bad, how can I change the position of the cards which are not new? or how can I made them as new-cards?

position value is used in some of the new card sort orders. for non-new cards, it doesn’t do anything. do you want to study a specific selection of cards?

I’ve always relied on the “position” field to sort my notes in the order they were entered. After I Clicked “re-sort”, they got messed.

Have you considered using “Created” for that instead? Browsing - Anki Manual

Additionally: Do notes even have a “position” field? I thought only cards have a position field, as multiple cards of the same note can have a different position, and only cards can be repositioned. For this reason, I would also suggest using “order added” or a field or tags for ordering. All of those work, and for the decks I’ve downloaded, “order added” has mostly worked just fine.

yes they have a position field.

Yes, I use both of them. I paused all my notes and then un-paused them one by one in the order of “Position” to specify what I would learn for the next day. There are some notes that I adjusted the computer time when typing, so the order of “created” is different from “position”.

@safely is right, cards of the same note can have different positions, as it’s a card-specific info; notes mode probably shows one of those position values, probably the one from card 1 (tested it).
