Help with Organizing Anki Deck for Japanese Prefectures by Region

Hi everyone,

I’m working on an Anki deck to study Japan’s prefectures, and I need some help with organizing the order in which the cards appear. Japan is divided into regions (Hokkaido, Tohoku, Kanto, Chubu, Kansai, etc.), and inside those regions there are prefectures (e.g., Aomori, Iwate, Miyagi in Tohoku; Tokyo, Kanagawa in Kanto; etc.). I want the cards to appear in a specific order based on these regions, following the geographical layout of Japan from top to bottom.

For example, I want:

  1. All prefectures in Tohoku to appear first (e.g., Aomori, Iwate, Miyagi, etc.).
  2. Followed by prefectures in Chubu.
  3. Then Kanto, and so on, moving southward through the regions.

Here is an image of the map with the direction I want the cards to appear:

Right now, my deck has all the prefectures, but the cards appear in a random or default order. Is there a way to edit or configure the deck so that new cards are presented in this specific regional order (Tohoku → Chubu → Kanto → etc.)?

Are you asking about having them appear in that order originally – the first time they are introduced as New? Or about having them appear in that order every time you study them?

Yes, you can use reposition.

If the cards were created in the order you want, you can sort them by created time and select all > reposition. Otherwise, manually go through all regions and reposition their cards to be in order.

Also, change your new card gather/sort order to show cards by position value.
