Help (re) activating Anki

Greetings. I have searched the site for help, but only found a rather old chain . . . .
I have used Anki for year, but have gone dormant for a while. I recently went to use Anki, but could not get it to work (the Anki icon just “bounced” up and down, but would not open).

I looked back through my e-mails, and see I missed (from Anki): “Hey, we are clearing out unused accounts . . .” or the like. So, that may be an issue here???

When I go to “ankiweb.net” all of my decks are “there,” so that is good . . . .

I have uninstalled and reinstalled a newer version of Anki, but it will still not “open.”

Any suggestions? I *really" appreciate the help!

Thanks,

Brad

Anki not opening don’t seem to be caused by the ankiweb

Try

  • Opening Anki with shift enable: enters safe mode and disable add-ons
  • In Terminal, run Anki and copy & paste the output here

Thank you.

  1. I have no idea how to “shift enable”. Can you advise?
  2. I have no idea how to access “Terminal,” how to “run Anki”? Can you advise?

Thanks,

Brad

By the way, here is what pops up when I try to open Anki:

“You can’t open the application ‘Anki’ because it is not responding.”

Thanks,

Brad
