(FSRS) Correct action to take when forgetting a card out of cycle?

Good afternoon,

Demonstrative hypothetical: Say I have a flashcard that I last studied 10 months ago and got correct. The card is currently on a one-year interval and will be reviewed again in 2 months. Today, during a real-life situation, I found that I had forgotten the information on the card. I then looked up the answer. I will probably remember the answer again when the flash card returns in 2 months. However, the one-year interval was probably too long for the card (hence why I forgot it after 10 months).

What should I do in my database to minimize the impact of this out of cycle “review” of the material?

Is there a feature or add-on that will effectively simulate me having “reviewed” the card today and gotten it wrong?

Thank you!

A simple approach would be to reset the due date for the card:

You can, for example, set the due date to today and mark it as incorrect. There are doubtless other approaches but this is one.

Thank you both! Love the support I always get from this community. I will go with the add-on solution, since I find it cleaner (fewer steps, since I can do the review direct in browser rather than needing to queue the card up for review). Appreciated!
