i learn English from series with subtitles and kept losing words between “i saw this word” and “i made a card”. so i made a Chrome extension: hover a word in the subtitles, see the translation, click it and it is saved together with the full line it came from. drag across several words to save a phrase
the list exports to Anki (also CSV, Excel, PDF), with a column that separates words from phrases, so cards come with real context instead of a bare word
translation runs on your device with Chrome’s built-in AI: no account, no API key, no tracking, free
limits: Chrome 138+ on desktop only, the first language pack download needs one click
