Error while syncing anki - "original size not found"

So I’ve been using anki for a while now, but today I tried to sync my notes and it gave me this message:
image
I read a bit around it, and it seems to arrive from corrupted media files. However I’ve done the “Check media” and everything seems fine, and I haven’t recently made any files with media in them that haven’t synced fine multiple times (unless mathjax equations count as media, I’m not entirely sure)
I’ve tried opening my backups from when anki was working but even they failed to sync. I’ve checked my database as well. The only addon I have is the review heatmap, which I doubt is causing any problems (?)
For someone else, I think it ended up being a network problem which I definitely don’t have, and if it’s due to a VPN, I can’t do anything about it because this is my school laptop. Could I have some help resolving this issue?

MathJax doesn’t, but LaTeX does. Math & Symbols - Anki Manual

If you’re talking about this thread – “HttpError { code: 400, context: "missing original size", source: None } “ – it sounds like they were using a private sync server as well. That’s not the case with you, is it?

Some other possible solutions –

Or is it possible that you have an enormous collection? I’ve seen this error before in conjunction with “collection too large” sync issues – Constant Errors Uploading / Sync . I don’t see an AnkiWeb account associated with the address you used here, but you can check the size of your collection yourself at the spots I mention in the other thread.

Hey, thank you so much for the help! :slightly_smiling_face:
I just opened it again today, and it started working again - I don’t really know what happened because I tries restarting anki and my computer multiple times yesterday. Oh well. (I only have about 2000 cards so collection size shouldn’t be a problem). If the problem pops up again, I’ll be sure to try the solutions you gave, like logging out and in again.
