Duplicate card check not working on 25.09.2

I recently updated Anki today(March 24, 2026) and I realize I no longer get a warning about adding a duplicate card. Specifically it’s for ch. Can anyone else verify this?

Previously when I tried to add a basic card that already exists it would warn me.

Here is the chinese character: 新

I’m running version:
Version ⁨25.09.2 (3890e12c)⁩
Python 3.14.3 Qt 6.10.2 Chromium 134
Arch Linux on Sway

Duplicate checking is working fine for me in 25.09.2.

Have you checked –

  • The existing note is the same note type – Basic [not Basic+++ or Basic-32s5d]?
  • There are no additional characters in that field of the existing note or the note you’re adding?

It especially looks like in your existing note field there is a whitespace character selected after the character. Click < > above the field to see exactly what’s in the underlying HTML.

Ah I checked the < > and it seems there was a whitespace character. Ok thanks!
