Hi guys, I’m trying to set different new cards a day/daily review amount to each deck I have seperately. but when i change it in one deck, it applies to all decks. I googled this problem and people had it in the past, but when I found solutions they were a few years old and they mention interface stuff that doesn’t exist anymore. I wonder how I can set different amounts of cards a day for each deck, seperately, without it setting the new number on all other decks in the up to date anki interface.
Go to deck options and set seperate presets for every deck you want different limits for. Presets are shown at the top of deck options screen.
Thanks! I didn’t notice that. weird thing is I just tried it but when I change the number under ‘‘this deck’’, new cards won’t appear (I’m changing from 1 new card a day to 5, and under ‘‘presets’’ it reveals 5 new cards, but under ‘‘this deck’’ it does nothing). Any idea why?
Thanks, I just tried to clone my default preset to make a new one with one change: 5 new cards a day instead of 1, which i wanted on one of my decks. Thing is, when i change 1 to 5 under the ‘‘new cards a day’’ option, it only works when I change it under the default preset. when i switch to my newly created preset and change it to 5, no new cards appear for today. any idea why?
I can’t tell: it depends on the deck tree and it’s not clear which decks you’re referring to. If you describe it more precisely then maybe.
Start by making sure you understand how presets work with decks and subdecks – Deck Options - Anki Manual . If you’ve just cloned to make a new preset, you would need to assign all of the relevant decks/subdecks to use it, before it would have any effect. [But as ZornHadNoChoice said – there’s no need to create additional presets.]
Then make sure you understand how daily limits interact between parent/subdecks – The Anki v3 scheduler - Anki FAQs .
And finally – the only daily-limits change that matters is whatever you save on the currently selected “tab.” If you change the “this deck” limit, then switch back to the “preset” limit, and then save, you have the wrong limit selected for that deck.
