I find it really tedious to have to scroll through all the tags in order to find the ones I need to study . And once I have chosen them the next time I want to make a new custom study deck it requires me to deselect all cards manually and find for the checked ones then select each one. I want manually. It’s a very tedious process especially wiha extensively tagged deck like anking . Kindly add a search bar , and a select all tags option in the filtered deck screen and the Custom study deck screen. Especially considering. Isn’t use the laptop and use my iPad as Mai nsitdy decode it’s frustrating to depend on a laptop each time. Indeed to make a custom deck. It’s really a UI problem and could be such a better experience . So much potential here .
That Custom Study setting works exactly like it does in desktop Anki –
For your more advanced needs, you should create these directly as Filtered decks – called Filter/Cram in AnkiMobile – instead of choosing from the more limited Custom Study menu.
You can build your search filter in Browse, use the Filter button to search the tags for the ones you want to add to this deck, then copy your search filter, and use it to create your Filtered deck.
Thanks for the reply but it’s doesn’t address what I was requesting.
I would like a search bar
in the custom study video to find tags easily . There isn’t one on ios version.
And a deselect all option
in that same custom study view so if making a new custom study deck it can easily select previously used tags
As you can see above on iOS I have to scroll through to find previously selected tags in the custom study view and then deselect them . Then select the ones I wan . Very time consuming unlike the laptop version. But since it’s not a big ask just a search bar and a select all option it’s worth implementing for the iOS users.
I understand your request. That’s why I let you know this functionality doesn’t exist in desktop Anki. Since feature-parity between the apps is usually the goal, a feature that doesn’t exist in either app will need to pass a higher bar before it would be prioritized.
So, for this – where there is already a straightforward way to get you to the same end-result you want – it’s less likely to be a priority.
The alternative I suggested doesn’t give you a search bar in the Custom Study window, but it saves you from doing in this without a search bar just the same, because you won’t need to use the Custom Study window. It gives you a search bar to build the same search filter you’d be building in the Custom Study menu, and you end up with the same Filtered deck you would from from the Custom Study menu.
I understand it isn’t exactly what you’re suggesting, but did you at least try it? Even if your suggestion were to be taken up by the devs, it could be many months before it is included in a release. Better to start using an easier method now, even if it means you have to change your workflow a tiny bit, than to wait around for the feature you requested.
Yes I understand I’m using filtered decks at the moment but even then I have to copy each tag I need 1 by one from the browse cards screen onto a notes app then make a filtered deck and paste the tags in there . It could be so much easier. So much potential there .
Or even if a filtered deck could be made right from the browse screen with the option to select multiple tags from the filter by menue (currently you can only do one at a time in iOS)
Thanks for the quick replies. Really appreciate it.
I do hope you can forward this suggestion to the developer team.
