Deleting a deck but moving the deck's cards to a tag- possible?

is it possible to move the cards in a deck to a tag? basically delete a deck without deleting the cards? thank you.

Not really.

  • Decks are containers that hold cards. You can move cards from one deck to another. But a card has to be in a deck.
  • Tags are applied to notes, not cards. You can select all of the cards in a deck and add a tag to them through the Notes menu, but it will also affect all siblings of those cards, regardless of what deck they are in.

Gotcha. All of my cards come from a preexisting file that I downloaded a long time ago, which were sorted into many different tags. Most of my decks are decks that I created and that weren’t set from this initial file. Is what you are saying still true in this instance?

Yes. Decks hold cards. Tags are applied to notes (all the cards of a note). Those things are constant

But perhaps if you explain what you are ultimately trying to accomplish, there’s a way to do that?

Do you want to create deck/deck hierarchies that imitate your tags? For example, select all notes with “urinology” tag and move them to a deck with the same name. If you want complete removal of decks, that’s not possible though.
