Decks aren't properly being sorted alphabetically / lexicographically

I’m trying to sort some subdecks in order using prefix numbers. However, for some reason there are a few that are out of order.

The deck was not made by me. Previously it appeared as shown below. For some reason, the decks between 10-15 are not near the first deck.

But I wanted to make a 16th deck, and it was placed near the first deck. I’m not sure if this is a bug or just something specific about this deck that I downloaded. It was an .apkg deck. Not sure when it was originally created.

Anki ⁨25.02.5 on Linux Mint.
The issue also occurs if I try to make the 16th deck on AnkiDroid 2.21.1

Things to try/check –

  • Are you sure there aren’t any hidden/leading characters in those deck names? You said you didn’t make the deck, and the “before” screenshot wouldn’t be possible without someone doing something to alter the order. The default sort it “ASCII-betical,” so some folks use invisible characters like zero-width-space to control that.

  • I started to think of specific steps that might help, but it ended up being just about everything on the Troubleshooting Checklist – Troubleshooting - Anki Manual – so try everything there, even the things that don’t seem related. [If you don’t want to upgrade, you can skip #3 for now, since you’re using a version released earlier this year, and I think that’s the least likely to be the source of the issue.]

You are absolutely correct. I was wondering why it seemed like my Backspace key wasn’t working correctly when editing some of the deck names. Really it was deleting invisible characters. Thank you
