My original settings are 50 new cards per day, but I was ehind today so I needed to add more cards for today. Unfortunately, I accidentally put a huge number and now my new cards per day won’t change back for the entire deck. How can I go change it back to 50 cards per day? For some reason, there is no separate custom study deck apparent and whenever I press the gear icon to change my settings, they just don’t change. Please help!
The increase/decrease actions in Custom Study don’t create a separate deck – they just change the limit for the day on the regular deck – Filtered Decks - Anki Manual . Unfortunately, they do that invisibly, so there’s no place you can look to see what you’ve increased or decreased it to.
You can’t rely on the regular deck Options limits to adjust the limit once Custom Study takes over. You can use a negative number to decrease the limit in Custom Study, but if you don’t know what number you put in, you could be blundering around guessing for a while until you find what you want.
Your limits will go back to normal tomorrow, so the best thing you can do is nothing. If you want to stop getting New cards now, search up is:new -is:suspended, select all, and Cards > Toggle Bury to make them unavailable for the rest of today.
You can avoid this in the future by not using the outdated Custom Study increase/decrease method for this. Next time use the “Today only” limit in Options. You can change it to the new number you want, and it remains visible, so you can change it again easily.
