Changes to How “Mark” Works on iOS

Hi,

  1. For years, the iOS app worked as follows: If I marked a card that had already been flagged, the star would replace the flag in the upper-left corner.

Now, the star is no longer displayed on a card that’s already been flagged. I think that’s a shame because I use flags for various status information, but I use the star to actually mark a map. So I preferred the old behavior and would really like to have it back?

Was this change made by accident or on purpose?

  1. Just as an aside: Don’t you feel like doing something to improve the app’s accessibility? I love using flags, but the current color schemes aren’t very easy to distinguish for someone with color blindness. Could you look into choosing shades that would be a bit more accessible in the future? Look for example at the website of “audioeye.com” (can’t place the exact link here).

Thank you very much and best regards.

In reality, three flags could look similar if the lighting is reduced—that is, in low-light conditions, all colors tend toward black and white. In such cases, you would need either a distinct object outline or, perhaps, a number placed next to it.
This is an example from a template/add-on of mine that I haven’t released yet.
