AnkiDroid uses the minus sign to mean “this tag wouldn’t be applied or removed”. However, I think it’s more logical if it meant the tag will be removed.
I’ve struggled understanding this quite a bit, and so think there’s room for improvment here. Thanks for your consideration!
I think your suggestion might make more sense if you attach a screenshot. I’m struggling to figure out which screen you’re talking about and which “cross mark” you mean.
The add/remove tag screen I see uses checkmarks in boxes ☑, and has a plus + for additional tags. If that’s the right screen (and I don’t know that it is), I can’t tell which one you want to change.
Thanks, I was supposed to say one thing and I ended up saying another. It’s the minus sign. You see it in hierarchical tags, or when you edit tags.
If I select three notes with three different tags, minus sign appears on each tag in the edit screen. If I remove that, and OK, the tags are removed. And I’m not sure the current scheme makes a lot of sense. Minus generally means remove and not “don’t do anything”.
My suggestion is making these icons more intuitive and allowing us to cycle through these states (for some reason, I can only cycle through two states).
I’ll attach a SS. I here selected three notes with three different tags.
You selected all of these notes, so whatever action you choose here should apply to all of the notes. Add-to-all and Remove-from-all make sense as the 2 possible exit states.
