Change Anki Web Cards from regular to double sided

I made cards but didn’t notice that they needed to be double sided or that was an option. I don’t want to delete them all but I want to be quizzed from both sides of the card. How do I change the card type after they are created? How do I make sure I get quizzed from both sides?

You should change the note type and not card type. Notes are what you add in Anki. Cards are then generated from these notes. How many and what cards are generated depends on the note type. See Getting Started - Anki Manual.

As for how you do it:

  1. Go to Browse. Or click B when you’re on the main screen.
  2. Select the notes (not cards).
  3. From the menu, select “Change note type”.

The new note type should be “Basic (and reversed cards)”. See the link for what each note type do.

I must be in either an old app or the wrong App as I don’t have notes. I am in AnkiWeb and the only choices I have across the top are Decks-Add-Search. If I try to edit a car I only get front, back, or tags.

AnkiWeb is a companion website for the apps listed in Anki’s home page. You’re using the correct tool, but it’s not capable of doing everything you can do on the PC/Android/iOS clients.

Download one of the apps from the link I posted. Then sync and download the content from your AnkiWeb account. After that, you can follow the steps I listed above.

You are amazing! Can I trouble you once more. Do you edit on the desktop app on Apple or in ankiweb when you add? And now that I chose reverse and front it will quiz me on both sides?

You can use the desktop app for everything. AnkiWeb is generally used for syncing data between multiple apps or just to keep a copy of everything on the cloud in case something goes wrong with the local files.

Yes.
