Card not following schedule after moving it a subdeck with same options

Cards were first in “Reverse” deck then to categorize them i created two subdecks “Phobia” and “Uncategorized”. Then i moved all the cards in either of the two subdeck.
deckpic

This is the deck options for these three decks (Reverse and both subdecks) (i have used “save to all subdecks” button in options)

This is card info of one of the card in “uncategorized”

But when i go to learn that same card it shows 1h at “good” or 3rd button

As shown in “options” the learning steps are “1m 10m 1h 3h 1d 2d 3d 5d 8d 13d 21d 34d 55d”. according to card info now the “good” button should schedule it to 3d but as you can see when learning it is showing 1h at “good” button.

if i change learning steps to add new step, delete older one or replace, what ever is at 3rd position, it is shown at “good” button

even i move back those cards to original deck, the scheduling is not like it should be (as per options and as it used to work correctly earlier)

When you change learning steps, cards that are in Learn can skip or repeat learning steps. It’s an issue that has been fixed in the past, but seems to be cropping up again.

You probably don’t feel like you changed the learning steps – but it seems like one of 2 things happened here:

  1. You created the new decks and moved the cards into them, and then applied the “same” preset to them they had before. – This is the clearest case. You switched the cards to a different preset and then back to this preset, so the learning steps changed and then changed back.

  2. You created the new (empty) decks and applied the "same " preset to them, and then moved the cards. – This would a bit more surprising, because the same learning steps applied the whole time. But it’s possible that the Change Deck triggered as a refresh to the preset assignment regardless.

[If you’re positive you did #1, and you want to try to fix this, you could restore from an automatic backup and try to do the steps in the #2 order instead. It might prevent the issue, but I can’t be sure.]

The good news is – everything will be fine with these 41 Learn/Relearn cards. You’re going to repeat a few steps, but then they will straighten themselves out. If you can’t wait for that to happen, your alternatives are (a) Reset the Learn cards to New, and/or (b) use Set Due Date to graduate the Learn/Relearn cards to Review. [The other option I give people is to only move cards when you don’t have any in Learn/Relearn … but I suspect that’s never possible for you.]

We have to talk about the elephant in the room, even if it’s not what you’re asking about.
:face_with_peeking_eye: Um… what’s up with these learning (and relearning) steps?

Are you making a well-thought-through decision here, based on your experience and your desire to strictly control how you study? Or is this some crazy idea you got from the internet and you’re open to being counseled onto a better path?
